چکیده

The spleen is the most commonly injured organ after blunt abdominal injury (40-55%). Most patients presented acutely with symptoms of haemodynamic instability or acute abdominal signs attributed to haemoperitoneum. Delayed splenic rupture is defined as late occurrence of symptoms and signs, in patients who experience no initial haemodynamic instability or clinical symptoms, 48 hours or more after injury. The importance of delayed splenic rupture lies in the relatively high mortality rates (5-15%) as compared with those with acute splenic rupture (1%).

We report a case of an 63-year-old man presenting with acute a...

Trivial trauma and delayed rupture of a normal spleen: a case report

INTRODUCTION Although a majority of splenic ruptures present acutely with a known mechanism of injury, a minority of patients present days to weeks following trauma with a delayed rupture.
